Homework

Our students have homework four days a week. Parents, please check your child’s agenda daily, it has the assignments and sometimes a message from me, depending on the student’s behavior that day. Most of our students do an excellent job turning in their homework – however, several children do not complete the required tasks. Turning in your homework daily not only will make the teacher very happy, but it will also make the student smarter and more responsible!

Parents and Students,

Students are able to sign up for in2books, a wonderful program that allows the students to write and receive pre-approved emails to and from their pen pals. These pen pals are either educators or professionals who have been carefully selected. All correspondence goes through me first. Permission slips have been sent home.

Dear Parents and Students,

School has been in session for two weeks now, and we can tell that it is going to be a wonderful year. Students are doing their very best, they are curious about learning, they enjoy science and social studies, and practice reading, writing, and math every day. Parents have also been wonderful, it was good so see so many of you at Back to School Night and at our little breakfast gathering last week. Working together like this ensures the success of our students!

Field Trips: This year we are planning on taking about 3 field trips; the total cost will be about $40 ($13-$14 per trip). Unfortunately costs have increased and school budgets have decreased. Thank you for helping us make our field trips successful by turning in permission slips and money at least one week before the trip. Our first field trip will take place in October and we will visit the History Museum downtown. I will send a permission slip with all the information home in a few weeks.

Recycling: Please have your child donate empty recyclable cans and plastic bottles. We will bring them to a recycling center and use the money for extra materials needed in class. Thank you!

Donations: Our class can always use supplies. If you can donate any of the following items, we will be so grateful and our class will benefit: Tissue, pencils, dry erase markers, crayons, color pencils, green or blue pens, lined paper, colored paper, copy paper, sharpeners with catchers, snacks, and hand sanitizer. Thank you!!!

Homework: Homework is assigned 4 days a week. Please check your student’s calendar and sign it weekly. Make sure you child reads for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Technology: If you can read this blog, it means you are reading it from a computer. Your child will get a lot of practice this year working with technology, from writing on a laptop to making classroom movies. Permission slips have gone home for internet use. Please return the forms as soon as possible. In case you have questions or are worried about safety, please contact me at: 422-1843 or stop by before or after school.

Classroom Visits: Please visit our classroom at any time, we love company and we especially appreciate help in the classroom. Hope to see you all at one time or another.

The Anne Frank House is the house in the middle. The picture is taken from a boat on the canal. The house was an office and the hiding place was upstairs behind a secret bookcase.
